Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign up using a third-party service (such as Apple Sign-In or Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider.
Wellness Data
The Self-Care Dare tracks five daily wellness factors: Mindset, Nutrition, Fitness, Sleep, and Connection. You voluntarily enter daily scores and journal entries. This data is stored securely and associated with your account to provide the core functionality of the app — including progress tracking, badge/scoring calculations, and AI coaching feedback.
Journal Entries
When you write journal entries, your text is stored securely in our database. If you use the AI coaching feature, your journal entries are processed by our AI provider to generate personalized feedback. Journal data is not shared with other users, sold, or used for advertising.
Team & Leaderboard Data
If you join a team, your display name, daily scores, badges, and leaderboard position are visible to other members of your team. Journal entries are never shared with team members.
Usage Data
We may collect information about how you access and use the Service, including your device type, operating system, app version, and general usage patterns. This helps us improve the app experience.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Calculate your wellness scores, streaks, and badges
- Generate personalized AI coaching feedback based on your journal entries and daily scores
- Display your progress on team leaderboards (scores and badges only — never journal content)
- Send transactional emails (password resets, account notifications, challenge updates)
- Respond to support requests
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the app
AI Coaching & Data Processing
The Self-Care Dare uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized coaching feedback. When you use this feature, your journal entries and daily scores are sent to our AI processing provider to generate feedback. This data is processed in real-time and is not used to train AI models. Your journal content is not stored by the AI provider beyond the time needed to generate your coaching response.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud database platform. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and encryption at rest to protect your personal information. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We work with third-party services (hosting, AI processing, email delivery) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Team Features: If you join a team, your display name, scores, and badges are visible to other team members. Journal entries are never shared.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
Your Rights & Choices
You have the right to:
- Access your data: View all personal information stored in the app through your account settings.
- Delete your account: Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at support@theselfcaredare.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
- Export your data: Request an export of your wellness data and journal entries.
- Opt out of AI coaching: You can use the app's tracking and journaling features without enabling AI coaching.
Children's Privacy
The Self-Care Dare is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@theselfcaredare.com.
Third-Party Services
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us (such as the App Store or social media platforms). We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
